If you are looking to shake up your time in Belo Horizonte, there are a number of great restaurants and bars that will most certainly spice things up. For a more traditional bite to eat, head over to a hut and grab some comida miniera, a traditional Brazilian dish that consists of pork, a creative use of vegetable, couve, a green vegetable and tutu a thick bean sauce. Once your meal has settled and it is time to head out for a big night on the town, you can rest assured that you will have a great time in the "bar capital of Brazil." Offering visitors and locals over 12,000 bars, and a night scene compared with those of Amsterdam and New York, Belo Horizonte is most certainly an exciting place to hit the town. The lower end of Rau da Bahia in between Avenida Afonso Pena and Praca de Esacao is a great place to head until the early hours of the morning. If you are looking for a more sophisticated feel make sure to venture into the neighborhood of Savassi, which also offers a vivacious pocket of clubs and bars. Pampulha and Barro Preto are two other great areas of town to bar and club hop.
